A Green Home and A Healthy Home

WELCOME TO THE EARTHA MADRE PROJECT

“ To make a home that brings people together in a way that supports individual and group experience of centeredness and happiness so that they create a living example of connectedness in the world.”

This mission statement was the fundamental intention in the design and construction of a holistic development process for this site and home tucked away on 10 acres surrounded by Apache Sitgreaves National Forest lands in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona just outside of Show Low.

Throughout the design and construction stages, the image of the green home as a living organism where exchange and evolution could occur became the organizing principle in creating a safe and protected environment, a healthy home that could germinate unlimited possibilities.  By becoming continually more attuned to the energies of the surrounding ecosystem and integrating the use of locally available natural materials and artisans/contractors, we developed a home that is artistically unique, ecologically sound and energy efficient.  It is an environmentally friendly home that is also an economically sustainable home and supportive of the health of it’s inhabitants.  This is truly a magical place, nestled into the slopes of the landscape and surrounded by beautiful ponderosa pine forests, the environment is rich with micro-climates of native vegetation and wildlife.

At an elevation of 6583 feet, this 10 acre site includes a 4800+ square foot main house, a 1700+ square foot guest house, and a 500 square foot utility/solar building, all virtually surrounded by national forest lands.  The main house was designed using age old, self sustaining building principles with 100% non-toxic materials and eco-friendly, “green” construction. applications.

We couldn’t have done any of this without the help and support of friends, family and the amazing professionals who challenged themselves in assisting us in achieving our vision for the site.  Nothing about this space is “normal” and the list is too long to mention in order to thank everyone who contributed but we offer a sacred bow to all of you and you each know who you are.  We also appreciate your patronage through any of the merchants linked to the site as it supports the vision of The Eartha Madre Project.  Thank you for your support.

A southern exposure coupled with banks of windows provide passive solar heating for most of the house through the winter months.
